About product

Mirage Hobby Flat Tip Precision Tweezer - tweezers with flat tips, 12.5 cm

Mirage Hobby Flat Tip Precision Tweezer are precision modeling tweezers from the precision tweezer range of the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby. The length is 12.5 cm and the tips are flat, and that is exactly the point of the tool. The tweezers of this range are stainless steel, so they resist corrosion and are easy to clean.

Why flat tips

Pointed tweezers touch the material at practically a single point. That is good for pulling a microscopic part out of a sprue, but bad for anything thin and flat: a photo-etched part bends under point pressure or takes a dent, and a wet decal tears. Flat tips, by contrast, spread the pressure over the whole contact area. The part is held firmly and yet whole, so it can be turned, carried and set precisely in place without creasing. Flat tips also slide better under the edge of a part lying on a board.

Use

  • Handling photo-etched parts: carrying them, holding them while gluing, setting them in position.
  • Carrying and sliding moistened decals onto a model without tearing them.
  • Holding small plastic parts while gluing and painting.
  • Working with masks, fine profiles and the small kit of figures.
  • Holding a part while the glue cures, so that it does not shift.

Who the tweezers are for

For modelers who work with photo-etch and decals, that is builders of aircraft, military vehicles, ships and figures. They will be appreciated by a beginner whose decals have been tearing and by an advanced modeler who keeps several types of tweezers in the case and reaches for the flat ones where pointed tips would damage the material.

Keep the tips clean and do not use the tweezers as a lever, as precisely meeting tips are what makes tweezers tweezers, and bending them costs the tool its precision. The model, photo-etch and decals are not included in the package.

FAQ

Pointed tweezers press into the material at practically a single point, so they bend a photo-etched part and can tear a wet decal. Flat tips spread the pressure over the whole contact area and hold the part whole.

The tweezers of this precision range are stainless steel: they do not corrode, they take contact with water while working with decals and they clean off glue and paint easily.

To photo-etched parts, decals and masks, that is to everything thin and flat. They also serve well for holding small plastic parts while gluing and painting.
