Injection-molded plastic kit of the French multi-purpose frigate FREMM D650 Aquitaine from Freedom Model Kits in 1:700 scale. According to the instructions the model can be built with a full hull on a stand or as a waterline version. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; for the exact contents of the box and any photo-etched parts, follow the enclosed instructions and the markings on the box.
Aquitaine is the lead ship of the French FREMM series of multi-purpose frigates, commissioned at the beginning of the 2010s. She is a modern ship with a strongly shaped hull and superstructures that reduce her radar signature (stealth). She carries guided missiles, gun and anti-submarine armament and a helicopter; she serves for anti-submarine warfare, air defense and strike tasks. In France the series is known as the Aquitaine class.
With modern frigates, first glue and fill the hull so that no seams show. Paint the superstructures and the mast with its radars separately and fit them only after the base coat. The smooth, flat stealth shapes come to life with a light panel wash; fit the photo-etched railings and antennas with cyanoacrylate glue at the end. Finish the shipborne helicopter separately and fit it last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
