Injection-molded plastic kit of the French battleship Jean Bart 1955 1:700 from Trumpeter, buildable as a full-hull or a waterline model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the French battleship Jean Bart as she was in 1955, in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The box allows the model to be built either as a full hull or as a waterline version thanks to the enclosed lower plate; it also contains decals and a display stand. The model captures the shape of the French battleship as completed after the war, with heavy gun and anti-aircraft armament.
Jean Bart was a French battleship of the Richelieu class. In the Second World War she escaped unfinished to Casablanca, and her completion and modernization went on only after the war. She entered full service at the beginning of the 1950s as one of the last battleships completed anywhere in the world, with a main armament of 380 mm and a strong anti-aircraft battery. As she was in 1955 she therefore represents the closing era of the big gun ships.
Glue the plastic with thin cement and work in subassemblies. Decide in advance on the full-hull or the waterline version. Apply a primer before painting and put the paint on with an airbrush; postwar French ships tended to carry a lighter gray scheme. Pick out the deck and the superstructures with a panel line and restrained weathering, and fine-tune the small armament at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
