A plastic kit of the German battleship Gneisenau in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. It is a new mold with a richly broken-up deck and superstructure; the finished model comes out about 33.5 cm long and makes an eye-catching piece for the display case as well as a basis for detailing with photo-etched parts.
Gneisenau was, together with Scharnhorst, one of the two battleships of the class of the same name in the Kriegsmarine. In the Second World War she took part in operations in the Atlantic and off Norway and made her name with sorties against Allied shipping. She was marked by high speed and strong armor protection.
Decide whether to build the full hull or only the part above the waterline on a stand. Glue the small armament parts precisely; for railings and fine elements, add-on photo-etched sets are the answer. Paint the deck and the superstructure with an airbrush and pick the details out gently with washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
