The Artwox Model veneer deck in 1:700 scale for the British battleship HMS Warspite in her 1915 state is a self-adhesive sheet of natural wood with the laying of the planks printed on it. The accessory is aimed at the Trumpeter 05780 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory to the Trumpeter 05780 ship kit, not a model. The pre-cut part of thin natural veneer is glued straight onto the plastic deck, on the back it has a self-adhesive layer and on the face a print with the laying of the planks and the gaps. The painting and scribing of the deck thus falls away and the surface gains a structure that plastic cannot imitate.
HMS Warspite was a British battleship of the Queen Elizabeth class, taken into service in 1915. The main armament consisted of eight 381 mm guns in four twin turrets, and the ships of this class were among the first British battleships burning fuel oil alone. The figure 1915 refers to the original configuration before the interwar rebuilds, which later changed the form of the ship considerably.
The bare wood looks very new once it is glued on. You will bring out the gaps between the planks with a very thin dark wash, applied with a brush to the edge of the gap and left to run into it by capillary action; wipe the excess off the areas at once with a cloth in the direction of the planks. Work only on a surface sealed with matte varnish, or the wood will soak the wash up over its whole area and darken. Lighter transitions in the exposed places are then created with a dry brush.
The deck is a modeling accessory, not a kit of the ship. The model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
