This is an aftermarket accessory to a ship kit, not a model. A thin wooden veneer carries the printed laying of the planks and a self-adhesive layer on the back, so it is stuck directly onto the plastic deck of a hull that has been built. The set is cut for the Tamiya 31113 kit and is one of several variants for the same ship, which differ from one another precisely in the target kit, so it is a good idea to check the particular kit before ordering.
The Yamato was a Japanese battleship completed at the beginning of the 1940s, the largest of her kind in terms of displacement and the caliber of her main armament. Her wide deck with long unbroken areas of wooden planking is one of the features that most determine the look of a model, which is why a veneer deck pays off on her more than on small vessels.
With a large ship the principle is not to remove the backing film all at once. Uncover only a few centimeters at one end, lay the part on and only then, according to how it sits, uncover further and press it down gradually. Once the self-adhesive layer touches the plastic over its whole area, correction is usually no longer possible without damaging the veneer. Press the deck down with the flat of your finger or with a smooth wooden stick, never with a sharp tool that would damage the printed layer. Fill the remaining narrow strips by the superstructures from offcuts and even the transitions out with dark weathering. You can fix the finished deck with a thin coat of matte varnish.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. The kit, glue, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
