Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic set of auxiliary vessels of the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1:700 scale from the Japanese brand Tamiya, from the Water Line range. The package holds several types of smaller vessels and is conceived as a waterline model, that is a faithful rendering of the hull above the waterline that can be set on a flat surface and reads as a ship afloat. The set fills out the scene around larger warships.
Auxiliary vessels made up the indispensable support of a war fleet. The set takes in types such as a minesweeper, a submarine chaser and a minelayer, that is smaller units that secured harbors, laid and cleared mines and fought submarines. It is exactly these small vessels that give harbor scenes life and scale.
The parts are small, so thin cement for plastic and fine tools come in handy. Masts and armament call for care. An airbrush with a thin primer works well, as does painting the deck and the hull separately and adding photo-etched railings from the aftermarket. A waterline model is ideally placed on a base imitating the surface of the sea.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
