This item is not a model but an accessory. A thin wooden veneer with pre-printed deck planking and a self-adhesive backing goes onto the plastic deck of the base kit. Wood gives the deck a natural grain and color tone that spraying and shading achieve only slowly.
The adhesive layer is aggressive and you usually do not get a second attempt. Never tear the backing film off all at once, therefore. Cut it into two or three sections, uncover only the one you are working on and leave the rest protected. Uncovering it gradually also keeps dust from the bench off the adhesive.
Wood moves. In a cold, damp workshop the veneer is less pliable, follows curves less well and the adhesive holds more weakly; in an overheated room the veneer dries out instead and may warp slightly. The work goes best at ordinary room temperature and with parts that have acclimatized in the room for at least a few hours. Let a deck rest for a day after gluing before you start toning and varnishing it, as moisture from the stain soaks into settled wood more evenly.
