Artwox Model 1:700 a deck masking template for the Japanese battleship Mutsu is a pre-cut mask for spraying the deck areas on a plastic kit. The template is cut for the deck of the Aoshima 045091 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model. The pre-cut template follows the shape of the deck areas and serves so that after spraying a clean division arises between the wooden deck and the metal areas.
A deck does not have to be a uniform area. It works well to spray the base shade of wood, let it dry and then go lightly over the individual stretches with slightly different tones: lighter toward the centerline, a little darker along the sides. The differences should stay barely perceptible; as soon as they are conspicuous, a model in 1:700 scale looks blotchy. Only then fit the mask and spray the metal areas.
You do not have to stick the whole template on at once. With intricate decks it pays to divide the work into two or three rounds and to let the paint cure between them; you risk less that the mask will pull a fresh coat off. Always press the edges down with a blunt stick once they are stuck on. Time the removal shortly after the paint has set and peel slowly, back over itself at a sharp angle.
The mask is cut for the Aoshima 045091 kit, so check the match with your version. Neither the kit nor paints are included in the package.
