Japanese Navy Heavy Cruiser Maya Full Hull is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser in 1:700 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi, in the full-hull version.

A kit of the Japanese heavy cruiser Maya in 1:700 scale. According to the name the injection-molded plastic model from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi is in the Full Hull version, that is, with the whole hull including the underwater part, and is meant for display on a stand. The 1:700 scale is the standard for collections of warships, so the model fits in among the other units.
The Maya belonged to the Takao class, that is, to the large Japanese heavy cruisers with a prominent tall superstructure and heavy gun and torpedo armament. Ships of this class were designed as fast units able to escort the main forces and to fight at night. During the war the Maya went through an extensive rework in which part of the original main armament was replaced by an extensive anti-aircraft battery, so that the ship could better protect the force against air attacks. She was sunk on 23 October 1944 in Palawan Passage by torpedoes from an American submarine while moving toward the Philippines.
Glue the hull and let it cure, and only then sand the parting line wet with fine paper. Build and paint the tall superstructure and the funnels separately, as it is difficult to get between them later. Use a thin liquid cement for plastic applied into the joint on the tip of a brush. Fit the mass of small anti-aircraft armament only at the end, so that it does not break during handling. The model gains markedly from photo-etched railings and cranes, which are supplied separately. The particular shades of the Imperial Japanese Navy differed according to the shipyard and the period, so keep to the instructions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
