A small plastic kit of a modern submarine of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) of the Harushio class in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a full-hull model with a low parts count that includes a black base with a pre-printed nameplate. It suits a quick build as well as a collector's piece in a series of modern submarines.
The Harushio class represents the conventional (diesel-electric) submarines of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. They are marked by a characteristic teardrop hull optimized for submerged running and are intended above all for anti-submarine and patrol work in the surrounding waters. The model captures the contemporary appearance of this boat.
According to the instructions, the conning tower with its retractable masts can be assembled with them raised for surface running or lowered for running submerged. The model is made up of few parts, so take care over a clean fit of the hull halves and over sanding the seams. Apply the uniform dark scheme with an airbrush and even it out with a matte clear coat; set the finished hull into the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
