This is a photo-etched detail set, not a kit. The precisely etched railings in brass sheet are intended for models of American warships in the small 1:700 scale, where plastic railings are either missing altogether or unacceptably thick. The set is made by the Czech firm Eduard, one of the most respected brands of photo-etched parts.
The railings are etched on the fret in long strips and are cut to fit a particular deck. Even in the small 1:700 scale, fine metal railings can fundamentally raise the fidelity of a model: the difference against a bare deck is immediately visible.
In 1:700 scale the parts are very small, so work with tweezers and a sharp knife on a smooth surface. They are glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with glue for photo-etched parts applied in a minimal amount. Degrease the brass, spray it with primer and paint it in the color of the deck.
This is an accessory, not a ship model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
