A wooden deck 1:700 USS Franklin CV-13 is a veneer accessory with the laying of the planks printed on it and with a self-adhesive back, intended for a plastic kit of an American aircraft carrier of the Essex class.

An accessory, not a kit. It holds a veneer cutout of the flight deck in 1:700 scale with printed gaps and with a self-adhesive layer on the back. It replaces the most demanding part of the surface finish of a model of an aircraft carrier, that is the painting and scribing of a large deck area. At the same time the veneer adds a slight but visible depth of material to the model, which a flat coat of paint cannot imitate.
The USS Franklin CV-13 was among the American fleet aircraft carriers of the Essex class. They were large carriers with a flight deck laid with wood, an island superstructure on the starboard side and extensive anti-aircraft armament placed in galleries around the perimeter of the deck. The ships of this class formed the backbone of the American carrier groups at the close of the war in the Pacific.
A self-adhesive veneer forgives few mistakes, because once it is stuck down it can hardly be moved. So work in a room at ordinary room temperature, as cold veneer is more brittle and copies a surface worse. Before taking the film off, mark the axis of the deck lightly on the plastic with a pencil. Once it is laid on, press the area down with a soft cloth in a smooth pull from the center toward the edges, so that the air is forced out. Any bubble can be saved by a prick of a needle and pressure while the adhesive is fresh. Protect the finished deck against filler and paint during further work, best with a paper template.
This is an accessory to a ship kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
