A deck masking sheet 1:700 USS New Jersey BB-62 from Artwox Model is a self-adhesive template for precise spraying of the deck areas. An accessory to a kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pre-cut self-adhesive templates follow the shape of the deck areas of a model of the battleship USS New Jersey in 1:700 scale. The set is cut for the particular Tamiya 31614 kit. Various releases of the same ship have the deck divided differently, so check the match before buying.
The most demanding places are not the large open areas but the narrow strips of deck along the superstructures, around the turrets, the winches and the hatches. Nobody will seat tape there precisely by hand and the result tends to be a shaky boundary that the modeler then puts right with a brush. A ready-made template has these cut-outs done and, above all, identical on the port and the starboard side, so the model looks symmetrical even seen from above, which is the most common perspective with ships in this scale.
The edge is critical. Once it is stuck on, go over the edges of the template around every protrusion with a blunt tool so that the film sits down even into a corner. A proven trick: first spray lightly over the edge of the mask with the paint of the lower coat. Anything that flows under will be the color of the surface and will not show, and only then apply the target shade. Set a low pressure and hold the nozzle perpendicular, as a spray at an angle pushes paint under the film. If a sharp step of paint does appear under the mask after all, soften it with a soft eraser or a fine abrasive sponge pad.
The accessory is supplied on its own. The kit, paints and glues are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
