Injection-molded plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier USS Saratoga (CV-3) of the Lexington class in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The split hull allows a build with a full hull as well as a waterline one; a display stand is part of the box. The exact contents and the parts count are not stated here.
USS Saratoga was one of the two large Lexington class aircraft carriers, converted in the 1920s from incomplete battlecruiser hulls. She was marked out by a massive hull, a large funnel and the characteristic recognition stripe on the deck. She served through the whole of the Second World War in the Pacific and took part in a series of key operations.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; the small parts in 1:700 call for care and fine photo-etched railings go with them well (they can be bought separately). Decide in advance between the full hull and the waterline version. Lay down a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush; render the deck in the matching scheme and pick the lines out with a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
