The real subject

The K-14 was an American gyroscopic gunsight used on fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 Thunderbolt. It let the pilot aim more exactly with allowance for the lead on the target. An accurate miniature of the sight does a great deal for an otherwise empty instrument panel area.
