This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a correction set - a separate clear cockpit canopy with which you replace the part from a plastic kit. Vacuum-formed film is noticeably thinner and cleaner than an injection-molded canopy, so the view into the cockpit is better and the outline of the cabin looks more delicate. According to the name it is the closed version and there are two pieces in the package, the second serving as a spare. The part is drawn to the shape of the Eduard kit.
The Avia S-199 was a Czechoslovak postwar fighter that came about by combining an airframe derived from the Messerschmitt Bf 109G with a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo engine and a massive propeller. Because of that combination it earned the nickname Mezek, meaning mule, among the pilots. The machines were built with several types of glazing and one of them was the reshaped canopy known as the Erla, which improved the pilot's view to the sides and to the rear. It is this shape that the set offers, so with it a model takes on the form matching the machines with this type of cabin.
Trace the outline with a fine alcohol-based marker, so that it can be seen on the clear part, and cut the canopy out with a margin. Then sand the excess away on fine abrasive paper laid on a flat board and keep trying the fit on the fuselage - sanding goes in small steps, because material cannot be added back. Bring the surface back to clarity with a polishing compound for plastics or by dipping it in gloss clear varnish. Glue it only with a clear glue for clear parts; cyanoacrylate glue will cloud the surface and liquid cement for plastic will attack it. Mask the frames with narrow tape, spray the shade of the interior first and only then the external camouflage.
This is an accessory to a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
