Three tasks on a single sheet for a 1:72 model of the B-2A: panels of the absorbent surface, the wheels and the cockpit glazing. Masking grades the matting and the shade where a decal would never seat.
Responsibility details are not available.
The B-2A Spirit is the only production bomber that has no vertical tail surfaces and no fuselage in the usual sense - it is controlled in yaw by split brake flaps at the wingtips. Twenty-one of them were built, they are concentrated at a single base and they cost so much that every machine is named after an American state. Its surface is assembled from fields with differing ability to absorb radar radiation; in photographs it reads as a mosaic of areas that differ from their surroundings in matting and tint rather than in actual color.
That is exactly what makes the build tricky. The difference between neighboring fields tends to be so slight that once the film comes off you are not even sure whether you hit it - which is why it is worth mixing both tones in advance, trying them side by side on a piece of plastic and only then letting the gun loose on the model. The stencils are placed by the leading and trailing edges, which on a flying wing are the only reliable points of reference.
The circular cutouts for the wheels separate the tire from the hub in a single application, so there is no turning the part in your fingers and no touching up with a brush. On the cockpit the sheet deals with the frames of the glazing: the film is laid on from the outside, pressed down with a fingernail along the strip, and the inside of the window stays clean with no seepage. After spraying, the mask is peeled off and the vision panels stay transparent, without the fogging that carelessly applied glue usually earns. Even after standing a long time the film leaves no trace on the glazing, provided it is removed by pulling along the glass and not perpendicular to it.
