LööKplus 1:72, an accessory set for the Messerschmitt Bf-109F

This is not an aircraft model but an accessory set for a kit in 1:72 scale that you already own. The LööKplus range is conceived as a combination of several separate accessories in one package: it brings pre-colored cockpit items together with further detail parts. The aim is to save the modeler from putting expensive sets together one by one. The exact contents of the package and the number of parts are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf-109F was a single-engine single-seat fighter of the early 1940s. Compared with the older versions it received an aerodynamically cleaner nose, rounded wingtips and a reworked cooling system, and the vertical tail lost its external struts. The cockpit was cramped and the forward view only limited, which shows during the build: the glazing is small and a well-made interior therefore stands out all the more.

Building and painting tips

Wash the resin parts in lukewarm soapy water to get rid of the mold release agent and cut the casting blocks off with a fine-toothed saw, with respiratory protection. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, because cement for plastic has no effect on resin. Separate the photo-etched items with a scalpel and bend them over a hard edge. The pre-colored parts are not repainted: simply seat them carefully and add a matte varnish. Finish the cockpit and dry-fit it before you glue the fuselage halves together.
