A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks, Peewit 1:72 Breda Ba.88B Lince, for the glazed areas of the cockpit of the Italian twin-engine aircraft. A modeling accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive die-cut masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for a model of the Italian twin-engine Breda Ba.88B Lince aircraft in 1:72 scale. The set serves to cover the glazed areas during spraying, so that the framing of the cockpit comes out sharp and the paint does not run onto the glass. It is not a kit but an accessory for the build.
The pieces are cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type masking tape. The tape shapes well, holds even on small areas and as a rule leaves no glue once taken off gently. The shapes are peeled off the backing paper with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and stuck onto clean, degreased plastic.
The Lince, meaning lynx, was an Italian all-metal twin-engine machine from the late 1930s with an elongated cockpit above the forward fuselage. In 1:72 scale its glazing has a number of narrow bars and sloping surfaces where a straight line is hard to hold with a brush. Masks stuck down make it possible to spray the frames in the same shade as the airframe, which on Italian camouflage with its prominent mottling is essential, because the frames have to follow on from the surrounding pattern in color.
Cover the glass before the canopy is glued to the fuselage. Spray the interior shade first, then the base camouflage color and the mottling last. Seal the edges of the masks with a thin coat of varnish. If you spray the mottled pattern freehand, keep the pressure low and the distance short, so that the paint does not get under the masked edges.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
