USS Constellation CV-64 is an American aircraft carrier with an angled landing deck. With models of large ships what counts is exactly what can be told apart on the deck and the sides of the hull, because a ship more than three hundred meters long stays sizeable even in 1:350 scale.
In 1:350 scale injection-molded plastic runs into its limit sooner than it does on aircraft. The features that in reality are made of thin sheet and sections come out disproportionately thick on a model. Metal photo-etch replaces them with a part whose thickness matches the scale. Because this is one part of a series, this set completes one particular area of the ship, not the whole model.
Work in this scale is slow and calls for calm: good tweezers, a sharp scalpel, quality light and, if you like, a magnifier. Cut the parts off only at the moment you are going to glue them, otherwise they get lost. They are glued with cyanoacrylate in minute drops. The hull and the deck are detailed before the model is set on its stand, because afterward you will not reach them.
The set is an accessory for building a plastic model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
