Eight resin castings of the British Browning Mk.II aircraft machine gun in the small 1:72 scale. The number matches the armament of British eight-gun fighters, so one package will do for one model. At this scale the difference from the parts in a box is at its greatest: injected plastic can suggest a weapon only as a coarse cylinder, whereas a resin casting holds both a thin barrel and the shape of the body of the weapon. The set suits open gun bays as well as a small scene around an aircraft. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory to one.
The Browning Mk.II is the British version of an aircraft machine gun in a caliber matching the British rifle, that is, 7.7 mm. At the start of the Second World War it was the standard armament of British fighter aircraft, which carried eight of them in the wings and relied on density of fire rather than on individual caliber. The same type was also used in the defensive positions of bombers. In later years it was displaced by cannons of larger caliber, but for the period of the Battle of Britain it is an absolutely typical weapon.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent is taken off the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a very fine-toothed saw or a new blade, as breaking them would destroy a barrel. In 1:72 scale work over a light surface and with tweezers, as the parts really are small and easily lost. Keep sanding to the necessary minimum, ideally wet and with your airways protected. They are bonded exclusively with super glue applied with the tip of a pin. After the primer choose a dark metallic shade and a fine dry brush on the edges, as exaggerated highlighting would look coarse at this scale.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
