A set of six resin reflector gunsights for British fighters of the Second World War in 1:72 scale from Quickboost. It is not an airplane model but a set of precisely cast detail parts that replace the coarse or missing gunsight from the base kit in the cockpit with a more faithful shape.

What the part is for

A reflector gunsight projected a lit aiming ring onto a glass plate in front of the windscreen, so the pilot could aim and keep watching the target at the same time. This type of instrument appeared in the Royal Air Force on fighters such as the Spitfire, the Hurricane, the Typhoon and the Tempest. In small scales the injection-molded gunsight is usually only suggested, so a sharply cast resin part markedly lifts the interior under the glazing.

Usage and painting tips

Resin parts need more careful preparation: wash them in lukewarm soapy water to remove mold release residue, carefully separate them from the casting block and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding. Paint the body of the sight in flat black or a dark metal, suggest the glass with a drop of gloss varnish and the reflected ring with a fine light dot.
