Camouflage masks for the Heinkel He 219 A-2, machine number 290126, in 1:72 scale make up a masking film set for spraying the pattern of that particular machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
A masking film set of PPS PVC material for spraying the camouflage on a model of the twin-engined Heinkel He 219 A-2 in 1:72 scale. The pattern is not a generic one but copies the blotches and transitions documented on the particular machine number 290126, so what comes out of the model is the portrait of one machine, not a sample of a type. The individual parts are stuck onto the surface one after another, always for the section you are spraying at that moment.
From 1943 the night fighter units of the Luftwaffe faced the task of intercepting hundreds of British bombers in complete darkness. The He 219 came into being directly for this work, and its crews leaned on radar, ground direction and on armament aimed obliquely upward. The upper surfaces of the machines were given irregular gray blotches, the undersides light shades with dark spraying, so that the aircraft would blend both with the darkness above it and with the lighter background of the searchlights. It is precisely such fine transitions that are the hardest to reproduce by hand, and this is where the mask is the greatest help.
Spray the lighter base on first and let it cure sufficiently, and only then lay the film down. Press the edges down thoroughly with a fingernail or a blunt stick and apply the darker shade in thin layers. After taking it off, check the edges against the light and gently mist over any sharp transition with a thinned shade.
Neither a kit nor paints are in the package.
