Injection-molded plastic kit of the American Boeing (Vertol) CH-47A Chinook heavy transport helicopter in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The kit is molded in gray plastic with finely engraved panel lines and offers clear parts for the one-piece cockpit canopy and the windows. The model has several practical features: the crew entry door can be built open or closed, and so can the rear cargo ramp. The rotor blades are rendered drooped, as they look at rest on the ground.
The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a heavy transport helicopter with a characteristic tandem layout — two large rotors, one forward and one aft, turning in opposite directions, which do away with the need for a tail rotor. The CH-47A version is an early production variant. The Chinook loads cargo through the rear ramp and the side doors and carries heavy loads on three cargo hooks underneath. It still serves today to move troops, vehicles and supplies.
Decide in advance whether you will leave the ramp and the doors open — if so, finish and paint the cargo compartment. Use thin cement on the plastic, mask the glazing and glue it with cement for clear parts. Apply a primer before painting; fit the drooped blades of the tandem rotors symmetrically at the front and the rear. Pick out the panel lines with a wash, and dust pigments suit the underside of the fuselage for an in-service look.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
