A cow in 1:72 scale from Offset Scale Models is an animal figure for rural dioramas, pastures and scenes with farmsteads.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an animal figure, not a kit of equipment. It belongs to a line of small farm animals which the maker makes in several scales. The number of pieces in the package, the pose of the figure, the material and the dimensions are stated on the box. The cow is one of the most universal diorama accessories: it suits rural scenes across practically every period and at the same time unambiguously conveys the scale of the surrounding buildings and equipment.
Cattle are so common in European and non-European countryside that their presence anchors a scene in a civilian setting at once. On a diorama they will find a use on a pasture, at a farmstead, on a field track or around a village. Neither the breed nor the coloring is prescribed, so you have a free hand — and it is the markings of the coat that set the figure apart most from similar accessories by other makers.
Cut the figure from the casting block or the print supports with a sharp cutter and sand the trace of the cut; the legs are thin, so never break the part off. Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry, then apply a thin base coat. Choose the coloring according to the intended setting: a uniform brown, a piebald black and white or a red and white pattern. Paint the patches with a fine brush and soft edges, as sharp edges come across unnaturally. Then comes a fine wash in the recesses, the darkening of the hooves and the muzzle and a matte clear coat. A pinch of dust on the legs will tie the figure to the surface of the base.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
