This is a masking set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, not a kit. It holds pre-cut masks for a model of the bomber version of the de Havilland Mosquito B.Mk.XVI in 1:72 scale. The version designation matters here: the bomber guise has a different arrangement of nose and glazing from the fighter and strike variants, so the set is aimed at a particular form of the machine.
The masks are stuck onto the clear parts before spraying. They cover the glass, leave only the frames exposed, and those are then painted together with the airframe. The Mosquito in its bomber version has a glazed nose with complex framing, where masking by hand takes a great deal of time and only rarely comes out symmetrical. A pre-cut set removes that problem and at the same time ensures the same width for all the frames.
First wash the clear parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry out. Carry the masks with tweezers and press them down around their edge with a toothpick. On the glazed nose especially, take care that a mask follows the curvature — if need be, warm it slightly and it will seat better. Spray the first coat in the interior shade or in primer; it seals the edge and any seepage is then not visible. Apply the paint in thin coats at right angles to the edge. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried and before varnishing. Before you buy, check that the set matches the Mosquito B.Mk.XVI kit in 1:72 scale that you are building.
This is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
