A dustbin with lettering in 1:72 scale is a scenic accessory for town dioramas — a stand-alone object of the setting, neither a kit nor a part for a model.

A trash can is one of those objects nobody consciously looks at in a diorama, but without which a scene never looks lived in. Stood by a wall, in a passage or at the edge of a yard, it fills an empty spot and gives a scene what is called an everyday detail. This accessory also has lettering suggested on the body, which turns an ordinary container into a particular object with a history of its own. In 1:72 scale it is a small stand-alone object of a scene, not a kit.
It works best in town and yard scenes, in the back areas of buildings, by workshops and in passages. It also comes into its own in scenes with a derelict setting, where it tends to be overturned or damaged. Paired with other small equipment such as boxes or lamps, it creates a naturally filled corner of a diorama.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry, then clean up the residue from production. A sheet-metal container looks best with a dark base, over which the edges and the ribbing are picked out with a dry brush — that is exactly where the paint wears off first on a real trash can. Suggest rust in spots with a sponge in several shades rather than as one solid area. Bring the suggested lettering out carefully with a fine brush or let a dark wash soak into it; painting over it is easy, restoring it difficult. Choose the glue according to the material of the part.
Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
