The Ukrainian brand Sova Model has worked the military offshoot of the successful regional jet in seventy-second scale. The injection-molded kit is supplemented by photo-etched parts, painting masks and decals for a machine of a Mexican operator; the armed P-99 form is given away by the underwing pylons. Collectors of present-day maritime aviation are offered a subject here that they will not find among the large manufacturers.
The EMB-145MP is the patrol version of the Brazilian Embraer ERJ-145 intended for guarding coastal waters. It is powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofans hung on the rear fuselage, and the crew relies on a search radar as well as electro-optical sensors. The antisubmarine ASW form, offered under the designation P-99, additionally reckons with armament under the wing, from torpedoes to antiship missiles. Among others, the type serves with the Mexican armed forces, where it patrols over the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific.
The long slender fuselage calls for careful test-fitting and for weighting the nose, so that the model stands reliably on its nose gear leg. The masks included make spraying the cabin windows markedly easier; you can carry the whole conception off in a light gray combination with the sensor covers brought out. Photo-etched antennas and details will stand out after a fine panel wash.
The package contains an unassembled and unpainted model; prepare paints and glue in advance.
