This resin detail set from the Aires brand replaces the cockpit interior of the American North American F-100D Super Sabre fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that lifts the simplified plastic cockpit to a faithful replica with rich cast detail. Sets of this kind are usually complemented by photo-etch and instrument films.
The F-100 Super Sabre was the first American production fighter able to exceed the speed of sound in level flight and belonged to the famous Century Series family. The F-100D version was a fighter-bomber and became the most widespread variant; it was used among other places in the Vietnam War, where it flew strikes against ground targets. It was a rugged and widely used machine of its day.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Try the interior dry and fine-tune the mating surfaces if needed; paint the cockpit and pick out the details before the fuselage is closed.
The set is supplied as a resin kit, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
