The aid allows for an F-111 Aardvark model built from the Esci or Italeri kit. The name of the manufacturer is the distinguishing detail here, because a version intended for a different mold exists for the same aircraft.
The first combat dispatch to Southeast Asia ended in losses and doubts, but once the teething troubles were removed the type became the most accurate night attack means of its day. It could fly through complete darkness and cloud close over the hills and drop its load where other machines had to wait for the morning. The raid on Libyan targets in 1986 confirmed it: the crews flew from Britain around the whole Iberian peninsula and back. The last combat deployment came in the Persian Gulf, where the machines destroyed armored equipment with guided munitions.
Molds from earlier years have a coarser surface and shallower engraving, which does not suit stencils. Before fitting, therefore, sand the place, rinse it and let it dry off thoroughly. Anyone who restores the engraving also gains sharper shadows once the final clear coat is laid on. The reward will be an underside that stands a close look.
