Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier-based fighter in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa of Japan. The manufacturer also lists it under the number 00544. This release is aimed at the Atlantic Fleet squadrons of the US Navy.
From 1974 the Tomcat was the main carrier-based interceptor of the US Navy. It had a crew of two, a pilot and a weapon systems operator, and above all two things that made it a legend: a variable-geometry wing that set itself in flight according to speed, and the AWG-9 radar with AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, which could direct fire at several targets at once at a range of over a hundred kilometers. The A version had TF30 engines, which had to be handled with care. Atlantic squadrons with Tomcats served from aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean among other places.
Decide first what position the wings will be in, because that also governs what gets masked and what gets glued permanently. The cockpit is clearly visible and rewards harnesses and raised detail. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for polystyrene. The gray and white naval scheme comes alive if you shift individual panels by half a tone. Decals settle on a gloss coat and are oversprayed with a semi-matte one once dry.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
