A precise injection-molded plastic model of the American carrier fighter Grumman F-14A Tomcat in 1:72 scale. The Gulf War release captures machines deployed during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. The package contains plastic parts, clear glazing and a decal sheet with several markings; you build one aircraft. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The F-14 Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with a characteristic variable-geometry wing that adjusted itself automatically in flight according to speed. The F-14A variant formed the backbone of the carrier squadrons and, at the time of the Gulf War, escorted strike packages. It carried short-, medium- and long-range air-to-air guided missiles and became famous partly through its role in popular culture.
Use liquid cement for plastic on the joints. Assemble the variable-geometry wing mechanism carefully so that the wings can be set ideally once the model is finished. Mask the glazing and glue it on only after the interior has been sprayed. The low-visibility gray scheme comes out well with gentle highlighting of the panel lines with a wash and discreet weathering; unify the surface with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
