A set of vinyl stencils for the winter scheme of the aggressor F-16C in a 1:72 reduction.
Responsibility details are not available.
The winter scheme nicknamed Blizzard came about for a unit that plays the role of the opponent in training and is based in Alaska. The gray and white broken pattern is to break the machine up against a snow-covered landscape and against the low cloud of the north, and it differs from the other aggressor patterns in how few dark areas it contains. On the aircraft the fields of the pattern run together into sharp wedges, which continue from the fuselage onto the leading edges and onto the fin.
It is precisely these wedges that cause trouble. They are long, pointed and have to line up across several parts of a model at once. Cut vinyl carries the whole geometry over with no measuring and no sticking of strips, so the edges meet where they are meant to meet, even after the transition across the wing.
Choose the order of the shades from the lightest to the darker, otherwise you will be spraying over every field twice. Before sticking the stencil on, free the surface of dust, because every speck under the vinyl creates a channel through which the paint bleeds. Go over the finished transitions with a matte varnish, so that the difference in gloss is evened out.
Units playing the opponent change their coloring according to the setting simulated in a given exercise, and a single airframe may thus go through as many as three different patterns over a few years. A modeler gets both pleasure and worry out of that: the choice is wide, but it easily happens that elements from two periods get mixed into one build. Stick to one pattern and one state of the armament. The contents of this package cover a single coherent scheme and by that it gets around this trap.
The contents of the package are cut stencils, not an aircraft or varnishes.
