An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Japanese maker Tamiya. It is a new tooling which takes over a number of details from the larger Tamiya model in 1:48 - finely suggested radar-absorbent surfaces, shaped air intakes, a well worked cockpit, landing gear bays and the Martin-Baker US16E ejection seat. The model can be built in three weapon configurations: stealth (clean), air-to-air and beast mode with external stores.
The F-35A Lightning II is a single-seat fifth-generation multirole fighter with the emphasis on a low radar signature. The A version is the land-based form with conventional take-off and landing, powered by a single powerful engine. It combines stealth design, advanced sensors and the ability to carry weapons in the internal bays (in the clean configuration) as well as on external pylons. It serves with the air forces of a number of allied countries.
Glue the parts with a liquid modeling cement for plastic; on a stealth aircraft take care to clean the joints perfectly, so that they do not disturb the smooth surface. Mask the glazing with templates. Apply a primer before painting. The characteristic gray low-visibility camouflage comes out well with an airbrush and discreet shading of the panels and a suggestion of the radar-absorbent areas; apply the decals on a gloss clear and fix them with a semi-matte clear coat. Choose the configuration of the stores in advance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
