A plastic kit of the F-51D Mustang in 1:72 scale from Tamiya. The iconic fighter in its postwar and Korean service.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary North American F-51D Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale from the War Bird Collection line of the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The set captures the machine in the form used after the Second World War, when the Mustang carried the postwar designation F-51D. The model is valued for its accurate shapes and cleanly executed parts.
The P-51D, redesignated F-51D after the reorganization of the US Air Force, was the most widespread version of the Mustang, with its characteristic bubble canopy. After the Second World War a number of these machines returned to service, among other places in the opening phase of the Korean War, where they mainly carried out ground-attack and strike duties.
Tamiya parts fit very accurately, and liquid cement for plastic is all the build needs. Spray the surfaces with a gloss clear coat before applying the decals. For the metal look of the airframe an airbrush and metallic shades work well; fine-tune the drop tanks and the armament according to the markings you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
