An accessory set from the Czech brand Hauler for building a fence with a base course in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of a vehicle or of a building, but a scenic element: fencing with which you bound a diorama, separate a yard from the street or hide the edge of a base. A fence is one of the details that give a scene its scale and credibility, because the viewer reads the size of the machines and the height of the figures from it at once. And in 1:72 scale the difference between coarse and finely made fencing shows at first glance.
A fence with a base course is the typical European urban and suburban fencing: a low brick or concrete base course with the fence infill standing on it. It suits dioramas with Second World War machines as well as postwar and present-day vehicles, because fences like these stood and still stand practically everywhere. You can also use the set to divide a larger scene into planes, which is one of the simplest ways of giving a diorama visual depth.
Lay the assembly out dry on the base first and only then glue it, because the fence sets the composition of the whole scene and moving it later is a nuisance. Clean the parts of flash and casting remnants and sand the surfaces flat. Paint the base course as concrete or stucco: a light base, a dark wash in the joints once it has dried, and finally the edges picked out with a dry brush. Give the fence infill a different material feel so that it is clear whether it is wood or metal. Finally add pigments at the foot of the fence, where dust and mud naturally collect, and a hint of growth if you like.
The set is a diorama accessory, not a model of a machine. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
