A decal sheet in 1:72 scale for a model of the British Phantom in the FG.1 version. The particular machines and their markings are given in the enclosed instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The designation FG.1 was carried by the British version of the two-seat supersonic Phantom, operated first by the Fleet Air Arm and later by the Royal Air Force as well. British Phantoms can be told from the American machines by changes to the airframe and by markedly different color schemes and national insignia, which makes them a rewarding theme for decal sets.
A decal sheet in 1:72 scale intended for a plastic model of the Phantom FG.1. Which machines the sheet covers, to what extent and with which additional legends is given in the enclosed instructions.
Before applying the decals, go over the model with gloss varnish and let it dry through properly. Trim the carrier film of the decal as close to the printing as possible, so that no glossy rim appears once it is dry, and only then soak the feature. The water should be lukewarm, not hot, and a few seconds are enough; then set the decal down on absorbent paper and wait until it starts to slide freely on its backing. Transfer it to the model together with the paper and slide the film off it with a brush, so that the feature does not fold anywhere. Blot the excess water away and do not move the decal any further. Use a decal softener on joints and recesses; once dry, unify the model with matte or semi-matte varnish.
The set is for modelers who build the Phantom in its British form and want a marking option other than the one the basic kit offers. It serves as an accessory, so the model, paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
