The Fw 190A-3 is an early production version of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter. At first glance it differs from contemporary fighters with liquid-cooled engines by its short, bulky nose with the air-cooled BMW 801 radial engine and by the wide track of the main landing gear, which retracts inward toward the fuselage. The type earned its reputation mainly for its quick response in roll and its heavy armament; as a model it is rewarding because it has clean shapes and a distinctive silhouette at the same time.
A plastic kit in 1:72 scale in a boxing called Aces, that is with the theme of machines linked to fighter aces. Which particular marking options the package covers and how many there are is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The 1:72 scale is the most widespread one for aircraft, so a finished model fits into most collections without demanding a special place.
Clean the flash off the parts before gluing and try the mating surfaces dry; at this scale even a thin coat of paint is enough to stop a joint from closing. Use liquid cement applied into the seam with a fine brush, not a drop on the surface. Mask the canopy glazing before spraying and glue it only with a cement that does not fog the clear plastic. Thin the paint and spray it in thin coats, otherwise the fine panel lines will disappear.
For modelers who build Second World War fighters in 1:72 scale, and for anyone looking for a model of a size that suits one longer evening of work. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; have paints and glue ready separately, unless stated otherwise.
