The resin part 1:72 Focke-Wulf Fw-190D-11/D-12/D-13 cowling and cooling flaps (opened) from the Quickboost brand replaces the engine cowling with the cooling flaps open.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is a replacement engine cover, not a kit of the aircraft. The casting captures the front cowling with its annular radiator and with the cooling flaps in the open position – that is, as the machine looks standing on the ground or warming its engine up. In a kit this part tends to be molded with the flaps closed, because a split mold cannot manage an open gap.
The D-11, D-12 and D-13 versions were the latest branch of what is called the long-nose Dora. Against the better-known D-9 they received a more powerful engine and different armament, and the D-12 was to carry a cannon on the propeller axis. Only a few were built and they got into the fighting at the very close of the war, so today they are among the popular subjects precisely for their rarity and their unusual silhouette with its drawn-out nose.
Clear the casting of its pour block, level the mating surface and offer it up to the fuselage dry – usually a little sanding is needed for the profile of the cowling to run on smoothly. It is glued with cyanoacrylate, which should be applied in drops so that the glue does not run into the slots between the flaps. Darken the inside of the space behind the flaps before you glue it on. Once painted, draw the slots out with a thin dark shade, so that the recesses separate visually from the surface of the cowling.
Only the casting of the cowling is included; prepare the rest of the material yourself.
