1:72 Focke-Wulf Fw-58 B Nachtschlacht with MG 17 is an accessory conversion set aimed at the B version armed with the MG 17 machine gun in the form used for night ground-attack work. It supplements a part-built kit and is not a model of the aircraft itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set widens what you can build from the twin-engined Weihe with the armament typical of machines sent out at night against ground targets. What it holds are separate parts meant to be worked into a part-built plastic kit, not a complete model. The central item is the German MG 17 machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber, which was used by the Wehrmacht and the Luftwaffe in an enormous number of applications.
The machine designed at Focke-Wulf served in the 1930s and 1940s mainly to train pilots, gunners and radio operators, and also as a liaison and ambulance aircraft. In design terms it was of mixed construction with a pair of Argus engines. The B version had a different nose from the later form C. Toward the end of the war a number of similar older types served the night ground-attack groups, which harassed the enemy's rear-area targets.
Hold the fine parts of the set up to the light first and check that they are not distorted. Cut the seating for the machine gun out of the plastic with a sharp scalpel and true the edge up with a file. Let the glued joint dry without any strain on it, and only then close the build up. Painting is easier if the small parts are sprayed separately on a stick and fitted at the very end.
