An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Fokker D.VII fighter biplane in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. The designation (OAW) points to the machines built under license at the Ostdeutsche Albatros-Werke plant. Eduard offers fine surface detail; depending on the edition, photo-etched parts, masks and decals with several schemes are included, among them the period lozenge camouflage. Check the box for the particular contents of the package.
The Fokker D.VII is regarded as one of the best fighter aircraft of the First World War. It entered service in 1918 and stood out for its excellent handling, its steadiness when firing and its good performance at altitude. It was powered by an inline engine (Mercedes or BMW), and its qualities were so widely acknowledged that after the war it was named specifically in the terms of the armistice as equipment that Germany had to hand over to the victors.
Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement. On a biplane the exact seating of the interplane struts is crucial: let the glue dry properly before you go on. After painting, add the rigging wires from drawn sprue or elastic rigging thread, which raises the realism markedly. The period lozenge camouflage is easiest to apply with the decals supplied, over a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
