A set of small figures on a French Resistance theme in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of a machine but the cast for a diorama or vignette: figures that give a scene action and scale. Without a human figure every vignette reads as a display model; with one, as a moment held still.
The Resistance groups in France were made up of civilians, and their look differs markedly from uniformed infantry: ordinary coats and jackets, caps, work trousers, equipment gathered from various sources. It is exactly this mismatch that makes Resistance figures interesting in a diorama, because it sets the scene apart from a run-of-the-mill military vignette at once and opens up other situations: a conversation by a wall, work beside a parked vehicle, the passing of a message.
In 1:72 scale it is contrast that decides, not detail. Lay on a thin primer so that the paint holds and the engraved lines show. Choose base shades a step darker than what you want to see in the end; the lightness comes later, from picking out the edges with a dry-brush. A face takes three steps: a base flesh tone, a brown wash into the hollows and one light stroke across the nose and the cheekbones. Eyes are not painted in this scale, and an attempt at pupils will reliably ruin the figure. Finish with a matte varnish to even out the surface, and dust only the boots and the trouser hems lightly with pigment.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue, a base and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
