An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. Eduard offers this kit in several editions (among them ProfiPACK and Weekend), which differ in their extras (photo-etch, masks) and in the number of decal schemes. For this item we recommend checking the particular edition and the contents of the boxing against the manufacturer's part number.
The Fw 190A-8 was one of the most widespread versions of the celebrated fighter with the BMW 801 radial engine. The Rüstsatz R2 field kit brought heavier armament with a pair of large-caliber cannons in the wings, intended for destroying heavy bombers. Aircraft armed this way, known as Sturmbock, were committed against formations of Allied bombers over the Reich. Heavy firepower and add-on armor made them feared but less agile machines.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage, and fit the glazing with masks. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals and pick the panel lines out with a wash at the end. Watch the correct seating of the wing cannon gondolas for the R2 version, and keep the wear subtle in keeping with late war service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
