The Mil Mi-17 TFace 1:48 is a set of Eduard painting masks for the glazing of a model of the helicopter, for the outer and the inner side alike. An accessory to a plastic model acquired separately.

A set of accurately cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the Mil Mi-17 transport helicopter in 1:48 scale. The TFace designation means that there are masks for both sides of the glazing in the package. On the Mi-17 that makes a lot of sense, because the machine has a glazed nose and large side windows and there really is seeing into the cabin. Frames sprayed only from the outside would stay in the color of the clear plastic on the inside, which catches the attention on a finished model. The customer buys the basic kit separately.
The Mil Mi-17 is the export designation of a machine derived from the Mi-8MT. It has more powerful TV3-117 turboshaft engines than the older Mi-8 and the tail rotor on the left side of the tail boom. It serves in the transport, airborne, rescue and firefighting roles and is used by armies and civilian operators all over the world. For a modeler that means a very wide choice of color schemes, with which clean frames of the glazing pay off a great deal.
Wash the glazing in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry freely. Stick the inner masks on and spray them over with the color of the interior before you seat the glazing in the fuselage, and only then deal with the outer side. Lift the masks off the sheet with tweezers and press them down with a toothpick, mainly in the corners. Apply the paint in two or three thin coats. Peel the mask off shortly after it has dried, slowly and at a sharp angle, so that the edge is not pulled away. Wash the adhesive residue off with water, not with thinner.
