This set from the resin Brassin range by the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains a detailed 8.8 cm deck gun of the kind carried by German Type VII submarines during the Second World War. The set combines resin castings with fine photo-etched parts. It is not a submarine model but a detail accessory for arming one.
The 8.8 cm deck gun was the main artillery armament of the Type VII submarines. The resin rendering offers markedly more faithful detail of the carriage, the barrel and the sight than a base kit usually contains. The set is intended for models of German submarines in 1:72 scale.
First wash the mold release agent off the parts. The small photo-etched parts, especially the sections of the sight, call for patience and gentle bending. Cut off the casting blocks with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer filler before painting.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, without glue or paints.
