Masking shapes for the glazed forward part of a model of the Grumman A-6E Intruder, 1:72 scale. They match the parts from the Italeri and Bilek kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
In content it is the same work as with the sister item, but the outlines of the shapes match the clear parts from the kits of the Italeri and Bilek brands. The dimensions of the glazing differ between individual kits by tenths of a millimeter and a sheet intended elsewhere would not seat in the corners, which is why the target kit is given in the name.
The squat two-seat Intruder was among the longest serving carrier aircraft of its kind. It carried a bomb load comparable with substantially larger machines, yet it fitted onto a ship's elevator and with the wing folded took up little room in the hangar. A later version received a rotating turret with optics and a laser rangefinder under the nose, thanks to which it could designate a target for guided munitions as well. From the same airframe came an aerial tanker and a machine for electronic warfare with a crew of four. A modeler can therefore build several different machines from one shape.
Try the glazing dry in the opening of the fuselage first and even out any overhang with a file, because after spraying that will no longer be possible. Lay the inner shade on before the outer camouflage and take the shapes off by pulling along the frame.
