The German paratrooper helmet M38 in 1:72 scale is an accessory for figures, not a model on its own. It replaces the headgear of a production figure with the helmet typical of paratroopers.

A small accessory for figures in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and in the package you will not get a whole figure — it is the helmet on its own, or rather a head with the helmet fitted, which you install on a figure you already have. For a paratrooper scene it is the fastest way to get the right shape of head onto a figure that is sold with a standard infantry helmet.
The M38 helmet came about by modifying the standard steel helmet for the needs of the airborne troops. The difference is structural and clearly visible on a model: the dome has a cut-back edge with no protruding rim and with no pronounced peak and nape guard, so that during a jump and in a narrow space it does not get in the way and does not catch. Inside it has padded fitting and outside a multi-point attachment, which holds the helmet more firmly on the head. The silhouette is therefore substantially rounder and smoother than that of an ordinary infantry helmet, and in a small scale the difference can be made out even without a magnifier. The army and the equipment match here: the M38 really is the paratrooper form, not the infantry one.
Separate the casting from the casting residue with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw and level the cut surface with fine sandpaper. Cut the figure's original head off low at the neck, seat the new one dry and check the angle. Glue with super glue and even the seam out with a modeling compound. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a thin primer. Paint the helmet matte, accentuate the smooth dome with a slight lightening from above and leave the lower edge in shadow — on such a round shape the modeling is done entirely by the transition of light.
