Brengun 1:72 Hurricane Mk II C is a photo-etched detail set for a model of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model. Intended for the Academy kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched accessory from Brengun in 1:72 scale for a model of the Hawker Hurricane fighter in the Mk.IIc version. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail set with which a plastic model is supplemented. Photo-etched sets tend to be cut for one particular kit, so before buying we recommend checking that it matches the model you are building. The target kit is the Academy one.
Photo-etch in 1:72 scale
In 1:72 the ratio of benefit to effort is at its most pronounced with photo-etch. The plastic parts here are relatively the thickest against reality, so thin metal changes the look of a model more than it does in 1:48. At the same time the parts are at their smallest, and that puts demands on both eyesight and a steady hand. It pays to work over a light surface with no pattern, to have a magnifier at hand and to move the parts with a dampened toothpick rather than tweezers, from which they like to spring away.
The real subject
The Hurricane Mk.IIc was the version of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter armed with 20 mm cannons instead of machine guns. The Hurricane had a structure with a steel frame and a covering, which gave it good resilience and easy repairability.
Separate the parts with a scalpel against a hard surface; never tear them out. Make the bends in a bender or between two razor blades, and always away from the etched fold line. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a genuinely minimal quantity, because in this scale even one drop too many floods the detail. Treat the metal with a primer for metals before painting, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface.
The set is an accessory for an aircraft model. The model itself, the glue and the paints are not included in the package.
