This photo-etched set is not a kit but a detail accessory. It focuses on the landing flaps of 1:72 models of the Soviet Ilyushin Il-2 attack aircraft. It lets you replace thick plastic flaps with fine metal parts and render them in the lowered position with the internal structure visible. It is made by the Czech firm Eduard, a leading brand of photo-etched parts.
Open flaps rendered down to the detail belong to the striking modifications that give a model a scale fidelity visible at first glance. The photo-etched parts capture the ribbing and the mechanism of the flaps, which cannot be produced in plastic.
The flaps call for precise bending: use a photo-etch bending tool and follow the drawing in the set. The parts are cut from the fret with a sharp knife and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Degrease the metal before painting and spray it with primer.
This is an accessory, not an airplane model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
